New Guy in San Diego / Caliente

Post by buenocaliente »

Hello! I'm buenocaliente (Perry) in San Diego Ca. I have recently bought a '64 Caliente. All is well so far but I'm having trouble finding a Shock Tower Cap ----------(the Bracket/Mount that bolts to the top of the front shock tower) Oddly the L Side one is missing on my car.

So the top of my LF shock is just rattling around, unsupported! If you guys know where to source one I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Welcome! Been enough Comets and Falcons(same part) changed to MII suspension that there will be some out there.
How 'bout pics we never get tired of pics!
Fred
How bout those guys in Escondido just off 78 they had a bunch a Ford stuff when I was there.
Mustang tops bolt on too but you'd have to change to Stang shocks
I'd rather do it myself if it's done right or not,,,isn't that what hotrodding is all about

now that I look more at them they dont look right right for 70's trucks either but do appear to be mm frame stands. the shock mount should have 3 holes on the bottom & one in the top of the shock.
cant find a good pic but this one shows the side of it. the other side has 2 bolts to hold it to the tower.

I do believe Mustang ones will fit if you can't one lik was said you would have to change to mustang shocks as the Comet/Falcon uses a stud type shock and the mustang uses a pin barI think they are called, the mustang style might even be an upgrade for you. If you want the '64 Comet style and simply cannot find one locally, send me a PM and I might be able to help you out.

See Ya,
Mike

Thanks, Guys. Yes, it's the type of cap/mount that's held down by three bolts. I'll post a pic of the car today. Btw, the previous owner replaced the grille with a '54 Ford Truck unit. Ya know, I actually LIKE how it looks. ------------Yes, Blasphemy!

Here she is in all her $3000 Craigslist glory. Has a 302 / C4. Inner fenderwells were cut out for tubs, that were never purchased or installed by the prior owner. Plus has no back seat. So I can sharpen marshmallow sticks while I drive :D
