Which headers work best and easiest to install on a 65 caliente 289 with 4 speed

Welcome on! lots of guys use Doug's tri Y's. they're probably the most popular ones.

Header choice is pretty limited and I don't know if any offer a perfect fit.
I'm running Hooker long-tubes and DO NOT look forward to the day I will have to replace them.

That's the other ones I hear from comet guys a lot. Are they super comps Joe? think I've heard that.

Yes, John. Super Competition. They are well made from heavy tubing so I think they will last. They are dimpled in a spot or two to fit. There also is a small patch on #4 made where it practically touches the shock tower. I've never contacted them to ask them about it. I think my problems stem mainly from the later model spark plug location on the aluminum heads. I'm pretty sure the Hookers would work better on the old cast heads. I have a friend offered to sell me a set of 1 3/4" Thorleys but I'm leaving well enough alone for the time being.
