Hello. Everyone!

My name is Fabian. My first comet purchase last week was for a 1964 comet caliente convertible for the wife. My wife wanted a 63 but settled for a 64 since we got it at bargain. The first step is to get disc brakes. Definitely don’t want the wife driving around with disc brakes.
Since it be her car she wants the car black with a red top, which I will be doing this winter. It’s a I6 but will be putting in a 302 I have. Not sure what transmission and rear end to go with.

Welcome! Cool convert.
Have you looked at upgrading the steering as well?
Several articles in Driveline on it.

Yes, I was looking to get new spindles with with all new 65 rods and brake conversion.
I also thought about keeping the same suspension with all new components and just add the brake suspension that will make the front hub into a 5 lug. Also thought about putting a 67 mustang spindle with 65 falcon rods but there is so many options.

I would love to do a mustang II IFS but it’s just to out of my budget.

Very nice car!

My '63 has MII power R&P steering, retaining the front control arms. It may be a viable option, in lieu of replacing the whole front suspension, depending on your budget. Sounds like your paint, top and driveline swap is going to a large undertaking in itself.

I think the 65 conversion would be the best option.
All parts except the centerlink are early Mustang so will be around a long time and easy to get.
Power assist on the brakes isnt really necessary but the pedal needs to be pushed not just leaned on.

So I can use a 65-67 mustang inner and outer tie rods, adjusted rod and Pitt arms? (So much cheaper than the falcon parts) As long as I use the 65 comet v8 center link.

If that’s the case maybe I can find some parts tomorrow at the Hershey swap and meet.

Read through the sticky at the top of Driveline will educate yourself.
Then answers to any questions can be more detailed
