Rescuing/Restoring a 1960 Comet

Post by Top Cat »

Just bought this 1960 Comet sedan advertised on Facebook Marketplace. Has been sitting for a long time at an elderly person's house in Hasbrouck Heights NJ. I probably rescued this car from a bad fate. Came with a rust-free extra hood and a better set of bumpers that I found hidden in the weeds. Engine ran like garbage when I first drove it, with lots of loud exhaust leaks. Running pretty smooth now.

Will update you on restoration progress. Not doing a full restoration--will keep some original patina. Just want to make the car presentable, original as possible, and running well.

Welcome aboard, Top Cat! :D She looks like a nice survivor. Looking forward to your build thread. I'm not familiar with flickr, but many of us use postimage which allows you to automatically resize pics to fit the forum as well as a way to copy a link to paste into your note that will allow the your pics to show up as pics rather than links. You might check it out and see if flickr has similar functionality. It's just easier for folks to view your actual images rather than having to follow a link to them. Here's how postimage works:

Welcome!!! I love it. Great color combo black & red. Glad you saved the Comet. Can't wait to see your progress. 1960, the year I was born.
