Let me start!!!!!!!!
Re: Let me start!!!!!!!!
Should have spent less time on this site and more time insulating!!
It doesn't show to good in the pic but the work bench in front of the overhead door
is outside the garage so I can close the door and do any grinding on stuff not
attached to the car. 1/2 inch steel plate on 2x2 with wheels on one end and a vice.
makes a great lay up table.
But at least my jeans last longer under all this clothing!
I have the right frame connector installed and most of the welding done.
(ran outta gas) Welding Gas!
i cut the back and bottom out of the front subframe and slide the 2x2 in about 6 inches.
I decided to cut the floor out above the rail to access the bend at the top of the rail so I could
weld the 2x2 to the top of the rail as well as the bottom.
I then cut the tube on 3 sides to angle it out to the rear frame rail. once I had the angle correct
I held it up with a floor jack and cut along the 2x2 with the sawsall creating an almost perfect fit
to weld the floor to the tube.
I then cut the tube on 3 sides again to lineup with the inside of the rear frame rail.
The back of the tube butts against the front of the leaf spring mount for a great tie in.
I didn't take a pic of it but I welded a strip of 1/8 material to the top outside edge of the tube
to have a way t o tie it to the rail better
AS Roy has mentioned so often I'm welding all the floor joints I can find while I'm here.
Now repeat on the left side!!

Very good looking job. Mine was a lay in as i had all the floors out. and as Roy said it makes it alot more ridgid car. and mite i be the one to ask... How old is that sawsall? As long as it gets the job done..

Not that old,,,,,,,,,,just cheap!
Re: Let me start!!!!!!!!
I hadn't noticed the car soft by itself, but the last time i had my little camper on it i thought it felt soft.
I've been telling myself to do this years but hanging around here has given me the "umph" i needed, Thanks!
Now I'm thinking while the car's up off the floor maybe i should cut out the tunnel and raise the motor so
I can put in the other spindles to lower the car more,,, pretty soon the drag link will

Re: Let me start!!!!!!!!
Looking good Fred, my floor was real bad so I ran a piece of tubing out to the rocker. I place that tubing so the rear seat bolts would go thru it.

Re: Let me start!!!!!!!!
Thanks Roger, I finished welding in the connectors, just so happened I started hacking on the floors as I'm changing the rear seat mounts
cause they don't line up with the uunder floor support. The tube sounds like a good idea.

Re: Let me start!!!!!!!!
I crawled under mine and shot some pics. I ran a bar under the hump the front seats bolts to. and another at the rear wher the leaf spring box begins.

Re: Let me start!!!!!!!!
Thanks Rat! Ideas are always welcome. I'll post what I end up doing.
Think I'm gonna remove some floor so I can lower the back of the front seat.
I like more weight on my thighs than I'm able to achieve at present
even with the 8 way adj. power seats.

Re: Let me start!!!!!!!!
The "NEW" shop is sitting ,full of stuff!!
Marilyn wanted her yard back of a garden ,blab, blah, blah
Plus the job i had to finish the interior fell apart so no $s
plus I needed to put up one of those monster concrete lego
block walls behind the house to keep the mountain outta
the back door!!!!!!!!!!!
SO,,,,,,,,, I'm workin the old tin shed with the almost leak
proof roof. YA can tell wher it leaks cause when it warms up abit
the snow melts on the roof, DRIPS ON SASSY AND FREEZES SOLID!!!!!!!!!
But i have electricity for the lights and welder and a big coat
I just worry about grounding out the welder
