Comet type speedo electronic upgrade

Post by BJB »

I was at the local meet at the BP service station on Penlink freeway, Baxter yesterday evening.
Good weather always brings more cars out.....well this '64 Falcon arrived with a modified speedo.
Our '64 to '66 Falcons basically had '63 Comet speedo housing, albeit ours were chromed plastic, whereas the Comets were chromed metal. I have one in my Falcon and it is just a swap over....

This gent's '64 XM Falcon had a modified speedo where an electronic instrument cluster was present. He told me that the original speed was carefully cut and the electronic cluster was inserted. You cant see the joins.

Those front wheels are not street legal...they are 'for racing only' stamped on the hub....

Engine was a 408 Windsor ( stroked 351) C4 9" rear end. Willwood brakes. It is going to be in the next publication of Street Machine.
