Meet Rhonda my recently aquired 65 Cyclone

Post by bluestang67 »

The PO did some sheet metal when he built it in the 90s . Well i have week spots on rear wheel wells that i will form a 90 degree panel and shrink and stretch it to fit inside and weld in . The lip on inner wells is gone so i figured this is easiest and best way . I don't want to restore another car , I bought it for a driver to have fun and hit cruise ins with i have only seen one Caliente once in the area . I did purchase front pans to replace PO repair of a home made ones . I will start a repair thread as it goes along . I figured out picture posting lol
I took it into a high rev and the stock springs may have went into bind and took out the cam lobe . I have a 347 from a 68 block being built buy a racer him self .

You'll find you get a lot of that. Most of them just think its a really cool car. The rest are trying to figure out what it is.

I'm sorry for your loss. I'm sure you'll make her a fitting tribute to your wife.

Thanks! I'm running 215/65/15's on the front and 235/60/15's on the rear. They are mounted on 7x15, 3.75 BS, -6mm offset Torque Thrust II wheels all around. There is a lot of good info in this thread on sizing wheel/tire combos, including my own journey to figuring out how I got to where I ended up. If I had to do it over, I'd probably go with 205/60/15s on the front to prevent occasional scrubbing on the front of the front fender lip. I got rid of most of it by adjusting the fender brackets, but I don't think it would have been an issue at all with the smaller size.

Thanks Jim , i was reading the threads but the ones i viewed spoke more of 14 inch , I didn't go in to deep . . Your combo is nice. , The 15x7 with 3.75 bs seems to be the norm .

Make some careful measurements before you spring for wheels. 4.25 backspace may buy you some more room. There's a few of us here running them on the rear.

Seems the 205/60-15 is being phased out a bit. Found this out last year when replacing them on the rear of my car. Could only find two sets in town @ a local dealer on clearance because those lines were discontinued. I can currently find only one set here w/o ordering online. Hope it's not writing on the wall. Only 8" tread that seems to fit well on 15"X7" wheel in my stock well.
