Cuttin the light or nailin the apex
Both have their own thrill!!
But the rumble of 20 plus cars all lookin for that tiny advantage coming to the green flag, your door being rubbed
The "love" tap from the competitor behind you sending you a notice and at the same time you are sending notices of the same type then as you come through 3 and looking out of 4 looking for the wave of the green flag, ya short track saturday night racing, that's where my heart is! Just thinking back to those moments what an incredible time I had!
Fred
That sounds like a blast Fred!
The track days I’ve done are a bit more tame than that. Although small challenges arise where you’re going toe to toe vs some guy. Mostly the only thing I’m racing is a clock. Just going fast for fast’s sake
There’s some expensive cars out there (not mine) so no love taps or door scraping haha!!!

Ya understand the keep your distance thing and I love going fast for the sake of it but close competition when your on the edge is where the thrill is for me.
Fred
I'd rather do it myself if it's done right or not,,,isn't that what hotrodding is all about

Ran the Falcon again this weekend. 2 days and it ran great. A small issue with steering wheel shake on Saturday. Sunday morning I isolated it to a little looseness in the roller idler arm. Tightened the nut and the shake went away.
Here’s a YouTube video of a slow couple of passenger laps. They said no passing and no fun with a passenger on board.

Wow! Love the elevation changes. Up somewhere around the top it looks like you might get a bit of air?
Too bad about the "slow" cars in front of you!

Hey Fred! Yeah that track is very fast and the elevation changes make it pretty exciting. Coming out of the 5th turn you climb and at the top you’re almost ready to shift up to 4th. Hit that peak fast enough and it does feel like you could catch air. It unsettles the suspension pretty good.
Nothing but fun this weekend. I’m getting faster.

Sure enough Fred. I’m planning on going back in October. I’d like to get a GoPro and have it cage mounted by then.

So here's my other project:
Back in May I bought a pair of Falcons. Both 6 cylinder hardtop 64s.
I parted the really rusty one that was complete and the less bad one I'm keeping.
The plan- build a road race type machine with mostly vintage parts. Solid lifter 289, Toploader 4 speed and 8 inch rear. Full cage etc.
Here's what I'm going for- except with a front bumper.

Image

Here it is. It's got the front sheet metal from the one I parted

I’m kinda getting used to this ratty patina thing.
It’s cheaper than paint and gives the impression that I don’t give a f@#

Getting the Falcon ready for an October track event.
Swapped out the 4 speed cast iron tail housing for an aluminum one with the later style wide mount pad. Allows me to use a polyurethane isolator… and it’s super light :D
Adjusting valves and timing as well.
And took it for a test drive out in the desert
