My kid took me to a track day last year and let me drive his car. Was a lot of fun although I spent a lot of time with my arm out the window pointing,,,lol
New shiny parts, always bring a smile to my face !!
Lou
Thanks Lou! Yeah its a blast! I think I’ve worn my family out on the track days. I usually go alone and meet up with a couple buddies out there. My boy is big into baseball right now and usually has something going on. He loves the Falcon and Comet though!
Looks like super fun, Joe! I know you must be luvin' it! Put charging those GoPro batteries on your prerace checklist.
Jim
Hey Jim! It’s amazing I charged the thing and brought it with me. There it was and when I needed it…..dead. It wouldn’t turn on or charge. I had to get online and found a way to reset it and now its charging again. Stinking thing is new but out of warranty!
I got a couple spare batteries and a separate charger as well as a helmet mount so ill be ready for Mr. Mustang at the next event!
Looking good, racing Moostangs! Show 'em their roots
How did the tires hold up this run?
Joe II
Thanks Joe!
I had to get 2 new tires for the rears. Now I know to swap them side to side on the second day because the driver side takes a lot of hell. They should be good for another few events
Good times!
Just wondering, in the pic where your leading the orange Stang what is the link I see under the right front, bump steer? If bump steer do you have a link where can I do some reading on it?
I forget now but I set it up at installation per the instructions and the car feels great, no noticeable bump steer. They are heavy duty units too and the adjusting sleeves are big making adjustments easy.
Thanks Groover! Yeah I still haven’t mastered the video part of it. Feels like I get overwhelmed with the car aspect of it and forget to arrange for getting the GoPro set up. Of course this time it failed me.
Promise some video for next time.
Thanks for posting this, bookmarked. Passing on some of these roads around here is a bit nerve-racking.

No problem Joe!
Driving my Comet around town with stock suspension compared to the Falcon with the trick parts; the difference is staggering. Pretty amazing that changing the geometry and adding a few bolt on parts can make such a difference.
But Johnnys been telling to do it to the Comet for years!

There's a stretch of road I love to drive just outside of town but I always seem to get stuck behind a slow-poke. There is only one good place to pass & the road has a lot of crown & a dip or two on the straight. Drop it into 3rd, pull around & white-knuckle the wheel when I cross back over the centerline. Hit 6K on the tach before I gather it in to upshift. It's a wild ride
Sounds fun!
When I change something on the Falcon I take it out to a nice curvy canyon road close to my house. It’s a fun section of road where I can *ahem* “test” the Falcon.
Beats the $200 test and tune day at the track!
In the quest to make the Falcon lower lighter and faster Ive completed phase 1- lighter. My 4 speed toploader now has aluminum housings and is definitely easier to handle and install
Im thinking maybe 40lbs lighter? Not 100% sure.
The aftermarket aluminum main case has its flaws but nothing I couldn’t handle. Mostly machining errors.
Phase 2- faster! Going from 3.80 to 3.55 gears for some top end WIN!
At this point the 302 is making power at the 6700rpm rev limit and still pulling the car but for the sake of longevity I don’t want to push it harder. The 3.80s have me hitting that rev limit pretty easily in 4th flat footing it at 125mph. So re-gearing it seems to be the way to a higher top end speed (no overdrive for me Fred!). Ill have to get creative in the corners to keep the revs high enough for fun cornering.
Your trans is a piece a art! Very nice.
Overdrives use up power anyway and for what you do with the Falcon 0-30 mph isn't a concern,,,,, is it?
I like the low-mid 3s for a rear gear. Sassy has ~330ft lb torque from about 2600rpm and loves to pull and I like the M90 singing!
Look forward to updates on your changes.
I'd rather do it myself if it's done right or not,,,isn't that what hotrodding is all about
Looks great! I see you have the David Kee tail housing, with all 3 shifter mounting locations. Is it a pretty nice fitting piece?? Something I may need to get depending on where I want my shifter.
Also really like your trans crossmember. Is that something you fabricated yourself, or store bought?
