Hello all!
So to address the issue of fuel cutting out in a hard turn I looked to the carb first. Cleaned it all out and changed floats to Quick Fuel “Road Race” floats. A little more angle on the ends to help keep the needle/seat open when the fuel sloshes up to the sides of the bowls.
I also changed the bowls to larger Holley XP bowls. They’re bigger to hold mo’gas and have internal baffles to keep the gas where it needs to be. They also have a cool drain plug 8)

I have to drain the fuel cell to get access to the cells “surge box” where the fuel pickup is. It’s a polymer box with check valves that keep it filled with gas for the hard turns. I’d like to make sure the check valves are checking and the baffles are baffling before I head to the track in October.

Other than these items I can’t really find any issues with the fuel system to explain the surging. I hope this fixes it.

Love those Holleys!
Have you ever had your car chassis dyno'd?
I'd rather do it myself if it's done right or not,,,isn't that what hotrodding is all about

Howdy Fred! No I haven’t. I’d like to as well as getting it weighed. Maybe some day.
I was on the front straight and pulling away from my buddy that has a Falcon as well. His “I’m getting passed-o-meter” thinks I’m getting about 400hp from that little 302 screaming at almost 7000rpm :D
I really don’t know though.

Just wondering out loud (as usual). What are you gauging this on, besides feel? Fuel pressure or A/F meter?

In a prolonged turn it’ll start bucking and surging. The AFR gauge shoots to way past lean then back to normal.

Are you running 50cc pumpers?
Happens after you downshift and feather the throttle @ high rpm, yes?

Holley 650 Classic HP carb comes with 30cc accelerator pumps. The fuel starvation happens in a sustained part throttle high-G turn. Never when I downshift or in a straight line.
