Thanks Joe! Yeah I don’t know if I’ll be able to find another set. I guess I’ll worry about it in a few years haha!

If the advance mechanism is ok and the shaft bushings aren’t worn out maybe investigate a Pertronix conversion for your existing distributor. Life’s too short to fiddle with points….
First time I’ve messed with them in 5 years. Not sure a Pertronix unit would have survived that long in that high RPM high vibration environment. I think IF I were to go electronic it would be a ready to run MSD unit.

Seems to me you and I were on the side of the road changing out a Pertronix unit that fried on your '65.
I'd rather do it myself if it's done right or not,,,isn't that what hotrodding is all about

Don't know how many 20 year old sets of points I've set that still worked well when I use to run them.
A little emory board and a piece of a matchbox and good to go.
Got very partial to Duraspark II after it came out and replaced my points distributors w/ those and the blue insulator module.
Very plentiful in the junkyards back in the day out of 302 & 360 FEs (and inexpensive).

Yessir I do remember that. The Pertronix unit speed governed my car to 50mph haha! Lucky I had the points in my glove box!

Hey Joe I think what killed these points is that the rubbing blocks are just nubs now. Not sure if it matters but I think the worn rubbing blocks caused them to jump around and bounce at high RPM.

The whole reason I jumped to Duraspark was to reduce points maintenance. As the block wears, ignition timing drops off.
Dual-point is twice the hassle but no biggie when you have to lash valves too.
Dedication isn't a bad word. :D
