Thanks Pop!
That is my intent. To get the best chassis set-up that I can afford. As far as the engine goes I'd like a strong pulling small block but a wazoo super duper race motor will have to wait a couple years.

Hey ! that looks familiar ! Joe I said I was done but If I do another project it would be a ratrod. where you try to find rusty things to weld on it, then set it outside to rust some more. I think that would be fun to promote rust after trying to get rid of it . :D

btw , I was kiddin about the couple a years of welding, you should be able to do it all in a year as young as you are.
but you better hurry up, your getting close to that age where you slow down   not kiddin this time !

Joe;making the chassis as solid as possible makes tunning the suspension better as it will repeat your adjustments into reality!! JMO , ROY.

Great start man! That's largely the direction I'm headed w/ the Comet but since I need a backseat (literally AND figuratively - have two young men and NO backseat at present) the cage is going to be interesting!! Can't risk melons bouncing off of (even padded) tubing.

Finally getting around to closing up the front torque box around the new inner rocker. I opened it up for access when welding the forward part of the rocker.

Opened up:

Front of rocker capped. Ready to put the front skin of the torque box back on. I'm going to rosette weld the skin to the rocker and add a couple of straps on the inside to tie the rocker to the box:

I removed the little rear end to sell it to someone in need so it's on dollys now:

Moving forward!

Got some time to close out the front torque box. Spot welded it to the end of thr rocker.

Now to the right side front floor and torque box

To maintain sanity and morale from cutting/welding/grinding hell I tore apart the 4 speed. Converting it from wide to close ratio

Thanks amigo!

Question: I ripped out all the front and rear suspension. When Im installing the structural parts should I place the jack stands at the front leaf spring mounts and at the front frame rail under the shock tower to simulate the "normal" load points?
When I did the right side rocker it had the suspension and wheels installed and I had it setting down on he wheels.
