All In The Family

Post by Joe Travers »

Took a nice shakedown drive in the Comet this morning to check final clutch adjustment, wife meets me @ the door with the phone. It was my oldest son who lives in Atlanta and he finally found his dream car! I was so happy for him and really miss his help working on the cars. Here she is, '66 Fairlane GTA :D

You were the first person I thought of when I saw the color :D
I think Pop would dig this one

Crazy thing- I was trying to build one when he was 10 years old but had to part it all out to pay medical bills. Sold the roller to a drag racer in Florida, engine, tranny and drivetrain parts to a local Mustang guy. Maybe it stuck with him after he burned through his Mustangs.

I was quite fond of them @ one time, Fred. I was building my Fairlane while I was driving my Cyclone to work daily and had to make a choice between the two. I chose the Comet because it's a lighter car and still ample room for a comfortable ride. Early Mustang a tad small for me @ 6'3".

Joe I had gave up on a fairlane & was looking at falcons as a second choice. but a dark blue fairlane had caught my eye first but seemed to be a lot more falcons for sale at the time .

That is surely a nice looking car!

Great looking car! 8) 66 Fairlane is my second favorite car behind the 65 Comet, mainly due to the sentiment associated with my first Comet. If not for that, the 66 Fairlane would be my choice.
