Used to dream of this as I was building my 390 car many years ago. Very rare and surprising to see.

Back in ‘66-‘67 there was an R code Fairlane around here, it was campaigned at the local drag strip by a Ford dealer. After a while it vanished until a couple of years ago it was located in a barn a out 50 miles away. A guy I know found it, bought it and has it under restoration to factory condition. It was nightmist blue with blue interior, and was raced under the name “Nightmist”
Here is a photo of it as found:

Good on him. The BAT car seems to de-tuned, looking @ the dyno sheet.
Looks like it could run on 87 ethanol (possibly).

Nothing against the Shelby Mustangs but the rarer muscle Fords and Mercs need their fair share of attention. 👍

I agree, I have always been one to have non mainstream vehicles. I never had the problem of seeing “a car just like mine” at an event or on the street. Although I have always been fond of a ‘65-‘66 GT 350, a small block Cobra, or a MKI Tiger.

Agreed on the GT350s Jim but I'd have to hack it up so I should probably look for a 66 coupe, hack it into a fastback and Protour it,,, ya I'd be happy with that,, lol
I'd rather do it myself if it's done right or not,,,isn't that what hotrodding is all about

A couple guys on a Canadian forum I frequent know the previous owner,, car was a NHRA record holder.
The track that the pics were taken on is Mission just out of Vancouver.
Some of you may remember when Rog Pool and Brian Guggenmos came up to Canada for a race and I met them there, was at that track,,,, 10 years ago this month!
