New Fuel Pump
Fuel pump went out on my 65 289 Caliente. Went to Summit to get a Carter M4009 unit, but Summit says I need the top mounted filter unit. Not the low mounted filter. Car currently has a 66 289 pump with a in-line filter..Which one is correct?

Thanks for the reply, ordered the M4009.
Re: New Fuel Pump
Weird they recommended the top mount filter. I believe that’s for the I6 engines not 289.harleyddad wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2024 6:54 pmFuel pump went out on my 65 289 Caliente. Re: New Fuel Pump
Well, I finally got the Carter M4009 and plumbed. It took a few minutes to get fuel to the carb, had a slight kink in the inlet hose that replaced the in-line filter that was used on the previous pump.
Now to fix the exhaust/header leak and break loose the brake cylinders, I might be able to put this ole girl back on the road.
It never does a car well to let them sit up for any extended time period, I'm learning that the hard way.
Thanks again for the input.

Between covid and medical issues I have been on limited duty, but is over now, every thing in the shop is getting a little attention now, until I fall out again.
