So Just wondering if anyone is running these & how do they sound. there is so many different ones, some quieter, some louder. I've heard them a lot but dont know which ones I heard & if I did I forgot.

I had 40 series on my foxbody and could not stand the drone at cruising speed. Switched to 50 series and have been very happy with them. They are a little quieter but I like them. If you like loud then 40 series is for you.
1965 Mercury Cyclone former drag car, 1971 Boss 351 engine, 4 speed, ladder bars, etc. Now returned to a street car.

By your description, I would judge mine to be 40s. Yes, droning @ cruising speed. I don't care for yelling conversations in the car, either.Boss/Cyclone wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2024 10:38 pmI had 40 series on my foxbody and could not stand the drone at cruising speed. Alone with the machine is pretty cool.

Are the 50's a little longer than the 40's? I was watching a video on youtube & they were comparing them & I think they said the 50's were longer. I wanted something same size as I have or I would have got the dynomax super turbos but for some reason the ones with same size case as mine had offset inlet & center outlet, & I needed the opposite configuration . & it was longer cased. But yea it's already loud with these I think they are flowtech afterburners. Not crazy about a drone @ cruising but when I romp on it I want to hear those horses. I had heard some flowmasters that were really quiet but had a ringing or pinging sound I didnt care much for.Boss/Cyclone wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2024 10:38 pmI had 40 series on my foxbody and could not stand the drone at cruising speed. I am not sure about the length. I did the swap 10 years ago, I don't recall if the length was an issue, but I did retain the factory tail pipes so it must have been close enough.poboyjo65 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 12:40 amAre the 50's a little longer than the 40's? Re: Anybody running flowmaster 40 series mufflers?
Was thinking about this thread a short while ago, driving the car through town.
I think I would like to put a pair of turbos on this car, future pending.
BTW- mine are 13"L and I think they are 15 years old but still seem solid. If I switch, I'll give you these.
I think every situation has a different answer, depending on where you live, etc.

I appreciate the offer Joe but the flowmasters have already arrived here, I just put them in the comet parts room (formerly a bedroom) on top of the box of exhaust cutout Y's I bought to be able to uncap the headers. they have a caps to block off one side of the Y's. I may buy the electric motors later but not sure they are expensive & I've heard some dont last long ,some have bad reviews. Hoping they will get better. I dont mind paying for good but I hate buying expensive junky stuff.Joe Travers wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 12:24 pmWas thinking about this thread a short while ago, driving the car through town.
