Where to locate hole for automatic transmission shifter

Post by Ethyl »

New to the group. Bought a 65 comet 202 last year and I am replacing front seat pans and toe boards. Previous owner replaced column shifter with floor shifter and cut a hole in the side of the tunnel. I plan on replacing the inline six with a 351W/427 stroker using a Dart block. Will a C6 transmission bolt up to a Dart block and if so is there a way to locate the hole for the shifter ahead of having the actual hardware? I was hoping while I was replacing the pans I could fix the tunnel and relocate the shifter hole all in one operation.

welcome on! 65's & earlier never came with an auto shifter in the floor. or a c6. but if you used a mustang auto floor shifter I think they use a cable? I cant remember but I'd get the shifter first. If you get an aftermarket one most have a cable so you could put the shifter where ever is comfy for you.
