5.0 intake manifold breather?

Post by rjones35 »

There's a hole in the back of the stock 5.0 mustang intake that I assume had something in it from the factory in the mustang, or whatever. Now that Ive got it, its just a hole. Should I plug it, put a breather in it, pcv...? Its about 1"-1 1/4" maybe, very center in the back. Thanks

It was a pcv, should be a wire mesh filter in the bottom of the hole. Can't remember where it the tube ran to, been a while since I had a foxbody Mustang.

That makes sense. I don't have the wire screen. You think I can just plug it and run the pcv in the valve cover? Or would it be better with the pcv there and breathers in the valve covers?

Simplest to just use the pcv and breather in the valve covers. Plug the hole with something.

The pcv used to go from the rear hole to the vacuum fitting on the upper intake of the efi manifold

Got the hole plugged! I hope anyway. Used one of those rubber expanding plugs. It would have been a lot easier to do before I installed the intake. I ended up kinda pounding it in with silicone all over it and putting more silicone around the lip. Even though it says right on it to NOT use silicone. I couldn't come up with another way to do it. If it comes shooting out when I fire up the engine I guess I'll come up with another plan.
