Not bent, like I said dipstick is 14 inches long. There is 11 inches from the top of the dipstick tube to the oil pan flange.
Stuck my dad's inspection camera down the distributor hole, the oil is pretty much level with where the bowl starts to level out, not yet touching the crank

My 250 pan holds 8 quarts but it is pretty easy to see why, I am sure I have a couple of quartz trapped in the little front sump.
The rear part with wings is the same depth as the stock pan just moved to the back and fatter
In stock form, I would guess the 250 pan has a similar capacity to the SBF, I know none of that helps you any except to show what an 8 quart pan looks like, lots of extra volume not present on yours so it has to be going someplace else.
I am sure you will find the issue, I hate to say drain it back out and see how much you catch, but you may have to drain it anyway.

I'll measure mine in a little while. the more I look at yours the taller it looks in the front, I wonder how long it is from bottom up to the opening for the crank? looks taller than reg, even my truck pans. maybe an 8qt,& some is going in the filter but with 8 in it it should touch the stick.

To the bottom of the front crank seal to the bottom of the pan is 5 and 1/4 inches.
Stuck my dad's inspection camera in the fuel pump hole. Oil level is pretty much at the bottom of the crank seal opening. Confirmed the dipstick isn't bending. Did a rough calculation of the area of oil in the pan, and it's 6 liters now (6 and a bit quarts)
Maybe after filling the filter, passages, lifters pushrods etc maybe 8 came down to 6, but my dipstick should be longer I think

Mustang II had front sump a little deeper and more angular turn up to the sump. Older 302's had gentle slope and less deep. Both hold same amount. I just measured my dstick & its about 20.5'' long up to about where the tube would be inside the little cup/seal on the handle of the dstick. I checked my 289 & its about the same maybe 20 5/8 but I could not measure my tube,tape was too fat to get down in there. so I think if I were you I'd drain it & count & make a dip stick read what you want it to equal to how much you KNOW is in there.

I just measured my 250 dipstick it is around 14-15" I am starting to think they did not give you the right dipstick

Maverick came out with 302 in '71. Don't know year for the tube in photo, appears to be 302. Holes in the bracket and head line up but not sure of height. The stick is for the old-style standard 5 quart front sump. Boss says the pan is deep sump, so there's a problem but not a 4 quart problem.

Joe, sorry this is hard to explain.
