65 frame & motor mounts pics?

Post by iglooman »

Can someone confirm what 65 V8 mounts look like?
.
I have two sets of (supposedly) 68 mustang mounts and they do look like what you can buy new online.
I have attached some pics of one side of mine as well.
.
cheers :D

here's the frame parts only;

but they are just like 64-65 mustang,so you could look at any catalog. I think there is a one piece from hipos or later that can be used as well.

The picture of the new parts looks correct for a Comet with a 289/302. I would recommend that you “ pin” the rubber mounts especially if you are using a modified engine. I used a 3/8” bolt with a nyloc nut, tighten the nut so it is snug but does not compress the rubber, this way when/ if the rubber fails the bolt will hold the mount from separating and causing the engine to move. ( especially important if you have mechanical carburetor linkage)

Those are not 68 Mustang mounts unfortunately. I think the saddle mounts of 66-68 Mustangs are superior to 65 Comet mounts and are a direct bolt in. The good news, I guess, is that those do appear to be correct original style 65 Comet v8 mounts.

True. Yes I bought these at a swap last summer specifically for the comet anticipating a v8 swap.
But I forgot about them, and got confused because I also have 68 mustang stuff.

Cheers!!
