64 driveshaft- six to v8 conversion

Post by barbee6043 »

Yes I have all the parts to change the 4 bolt set up to v8, as in all steering, rear end, 289. My question is will my six cyl. driveshaft be correct length and yoke spline?? Column shift. Going to a C4 trans. Thanks all.

Depends on the year and model of your original transmission. Different years had different spline counts. Do you know what year and model your origianl transmission is?

I can not find an information on 1964 merc o matic 2 speeds automatic. I am pretty sure that is what came in your car. Most C4's had a 28 spline output shaft. Not sure which yours had, if I had to guess I would guess 25 spline like the early toploaders?

When I did my Mercomatic to C4 swap I had to change the forward yoke with this one, plus the u-joint noted.
