headlight questions 62 comet

Hi guys.

Final stages on my comet-miata build and running into lots of little issues.

I just figured out that the buckets are different on the headlights.

I have E-9 headlights that fit one set of buckets. The other is a mystery.

I have tried E-11 but the feet on the bulb dont line up.

I'm assuming the E numbers on these bulbs is the mounting foot loacations......Both bulbs I have are autopal euro glass bulbs with replaceable bulbs. one uses an H$, the other an H1

65s have a different bucket for each light, LH ,LL,RH,RL. A high & lowbeam for each side. they're stamped around the big hole faintly. you cant swap them around. perhaps 62s are similar, & you just have them mixed up, or in the wrong location. highbeams & lows should be the only differences in bulb fitting, but the lights wont aim right if the bucket is in the wrong place.

62's are different. all 4 buckets are the same, the basket that the headlight sits in have 2 styles. for 5001 (hi) and 5006 (lo) I think I have it figured out after a trip to the autoparts store. I have 2 options.

1. get 2 more low beam baskets and convert all 4 to low/high
2. Find a matching bulb housing that will fit the 5001, and take an H4 bulb.

Basket ,bucket, I guess I should have said basket. whatever the head light sits in is what I was calling a bucket. anyway glad you figured it out .
