im restoring my wifes 62 comet and im having an issue with the heater vent pulls. One of them was broke and the other broke when i was trying to figure out how to ge the chrome knob off the end of the thing. So i have 2 questions;
1 - How are the knobs supposed to come off?
2 - Where can i buy these knobs? i cant seem to find them anywhere.
i attatched a picture and they are the knobs below the cluster and the radio.
Dash Vent Cable Pulls
Re: Dash Vent Cable Pulls
Is there some sort of spring mechanism to release the knob? Probably you would push it in? Some sort of pin in the barrel.

Re: Dash Vent Cable Pulls
So after i broke one of the knobs off. There is a plunger that the knob is attached to. The plunger goes through a chrome grommet that screws onto the metal cable casing. the plunger is crimped onto the cable but the cable/plunger are not long enough to re crimp since they are in the middle of the grommet.
Im wondering if there was a different way to go about it or if it was designed to be just 1 part and the knob is not considered a separate piece.

Re: Dash Vent Cable Pulls
I dont know if this cable is right but it doesn't have a knob so maybe it does come off.

Re: Dash Vent Cable Pulls
This is the "exploded" view of the cable. All the other cables had a set screw but these 2 vent knobs. i believe one is for heat and the other is for defrost.
