63 Convertible s22 build help

Post by GERK »

Hi all. Very excited to be back.
Last I was here, I had just gotten the Comet.
Its a project that I had wanted for a while.
I bought a started project, which I know can be difficult as it was already partly disassembled and I was not the one that did it.
I sent to a painter and he had it for months and months longer than he was supposed to. (plus was 12 hrs away)
Anyway...
I am trying to reassemble where everything is supposed to go. I am doing a pretty good job. Lots of searching online pics. Trying to do as much as possible without having to ask for help.
I am really hoping that I can start posting some questions about what some things are.
I am really excited to get her back on the road.
I think she's gonna look real nice

Sounds really cool.
The 1963 Supplement Shop Manual is a HUGE help. Got me out of a jam a couple of times.

Thanks for the reply's. I'll start posting up some pics from the process.

I bought the cd computer version of the shop manual. Seems like a waste of money as it is impossible to figure out how to load it up.
At least it is on my comp

As others have said, WOW.
The shot of the interior the dash looks like maybe a mod or is it just paper?

Thanks for all the nice comments. I can't wait to get her finished.

So, I have the 260 Ford in her. It had the generator installed.
Should I go back to it, or swap in an alternator?
Pros and cons?

Generator:

pros: you already have one. it works fine. looks cool. You get Pops and my respect ;)
cons: can't run a 1000 watt stereo system with subwoofer and a powered Yedi at the same time.

But seriously, I think they can both fail in the same ways. Gen can't drive a bunch of electronic accessories, but it's a Comet, so whatchagonnahave? I can say that if your generator dies while your on a long road trip, you're not likely to find a replacement at AutoZone, etc. So I carry one in the trunk after that happened.
