And I'm impressed....even your scrap papers that you use for a drop cloth are car related.
Actually an advertisement in the church paper. Honesty didn't notice the ad until I uploaded the picture here.
Looked up the agent and they are licensed by Hagerty! :D

Picked up a pretty nice headlight switch retaining nut as well and got a new switch mounted. Glad to get out from under the dash.
Not my favorite place to work. New hood bumpers installed this morning to keep the hood from bouncing.

Here's my shameless plug for Lucas Fuel System Cleaner. The first picture is #1 piston a couple months after I purchased the car last year. Very bad tune had this engine caked up rather badly. Second picture is recent w/ approx. 1K mile run time and a few bottles of the cleaner. This is a great product for engine cleaning.

Yep, John. I pour in a full bottle just before I fill the tank so it mixes well. As you can tell, there's still carbon flaking off and burning. The flat side that isn't in the pic is halfway clean now. Need to take the car on more longer drives to speed up the process. Running the engine for steady 30+ minutes @ operating temperature does the trick. Putting around town doesn't get it done. It's a lot cheaper than taking it to a shop for carbon cleaning on a machine. If you have a friend who can score the nitro mix from a dealer, you can try it at home at your own risk of hydro-locking the engine.

Sorry I couldn't get a pic of the whole piston but this cheap scope doesn't have focus control. :?

I watched a documentary recently about Forrest Lucas, the inventor of the Lucas oil treatment. He grew up dirt poor on a farm in Indiana. Bought his first truck at age 19 and built a trucking empire from there. Only had a high school education, but developed an oil additive in his garage to help reduce the wear on his trucks. It worked so well he patented it and started Lucas Oil. Now they make over 250 products in 40 countries. He's a very humble, religious guy, and a big philanthropist for a number of causes. Real interesting guy.

I am currently running Lucas Classic Car and Hot Rod oil in the crankcase but I'm going to change to Shell Rotella soon, as she's due for a change. The Lucas oil has highest zinc content I could find but under further inspection, I found my engine has a solid roller cam and I really don't need the extra zinc. Lucas would be my personal choice if I had a flat-tappet cam, JMO. Rotella is still around 1800 ppm, which is plenty to keep down corrosion.

Rotella is what I run in mine. Son-in-law put me on to it because of the zinc.

On second thought, I may switch to Motorcraft 5W-50 synthetic, as it is spec'd for the Mustang 5.0L H.O. engine. Not quite sure, but I think the light viscosity is used for hydraulic roller lifter valvetrain. Anyone have the skinny on this? Mine is a solid roller, so I may not need it.

I really need to install horns on the car so I can get through inspection easier. Been ready the schematic and have it down but need to know where the relay is located on these cars. Hope it's not under the dash :? Any pointers? I'm thinking all the horns for 12V system should work. Running a one-wire alternator.

Thanks

Ah, mine is by the rad-battery but I have no idea if that is stock location.
I'd rather do it myself if it's done right or not,,,isn't that what hotrodding is all about

I found a relay installed by the battery, Fred but it's not the stock type as well. When PO installed the alternator, the regulator got nicked and he pulled some hanky-panky w/ the wiring. Installed A/C condenser but didn't replace the horns on the rad support. Guess I'm going to have to chase the rabbit and find the hot wire to the horns out of the relay to get a pair wired up :?

Sassy's horns hacked too when I bought it. Someone drilled a hole in the console tray! and installed a push button for the horn but the relay wasnt in the wiring layout. Ya, from power through switch to horns. I fixed it eventually( low on the list of priorities lol).
I mounted my horns behind the front bumper, the engine compartment is busy enough.

If someone can't hear this thing coming down the road, a bullhorn may get their attention.
Bought a jacked F-150 4X4 from a rancher years ago w/ a very heavy fabbed front bumper w/ brush guard & winch. Never had to worry about people jumping four-way stops on me.
