Parking brake cable came in couple days ago. Wife and I have been under the weather all week. Haven't felt up to getting under the car yet to pull the parking brake housing to rebuild. Have found all the parts I need and did a deep dive into getting it all together while resting a bit.
Everything except one item. Need the pin with the button head that presses into the rod (see pic below). It limits total travel and keeps the rod from being jammed into the cable pulley. Pretty sure this is why my pulley is pinched and is getting replaced (thanks, Jim). Does anyone have a source or know the size for this one? I can't find any information on this anywhere, been looking for days. Think I'll take the rod to Ace when I'm up to it and try to find something that fits to get size. Thanks to all
If you can’t find a pin to fit I would think about threading that hole for a button head screw and assemble with a tiny bit of loctite.
May be my only recourse, Pat. A very good neighbor works @ Ace and knows the entire store stock off the top of his head.
He may be able to fix me up, @ least get proper size, maybe a pin.
Don't know when/if Comet work will resume
Never got the E brake fixed but I have all of the parts. Whenever I get the endurance, I'll drive it up to my bud's shop and put it on the lift.
My boys cranked it in the drive the couple of months I was in hospital. I managed to take it for a short drive around the neighborhood last week to lube the gears.
May pick up an old F-100 w/ a slush box. Too early to tell.
Good to see you back on your thread again. Pushing that clutch pedal is good physical therapy, too. You should aim for at least 100 reps/day to build your stamina.
When you get a chance look up 260 tri power there’s a bunch of stuff would like your thinking on.
Been very interested in your thread, Pat. Thoughts? Very cool
Finding the old 'unobtainable' is really the part I enjoy the most, owning a Comet (especially period correct).
Should be a blast after you get it all dialed in.

That's the ticket, Jim but I'm bushed after a couple of reps. Was pushing too hard a few weeks ago and caused more problems. Have to walk the line. Serious about the F100 slush box ride. Have my eye on a few '65-'66s w/ 390s & C6s.

Joe it's good to have you back posting! My old beater daily driver has been down so I've been driving my 76 as a daily for a month or two, except for rainy days. It feels good to have some extra power & to hear a good sounding V8 on a daily basis for a change, it just puts you in a different state of mind.
Six months since last posting here.
Only thing I got done with the car this entire year was dialing in the distributor curve to Boss specs.
Had a definite plan for this car last year. Time will only tell if it comes to fruition.
