Both are correct, in that I looked under the dash above driver's side kick panel and the hat is there but door is completely missing. Screw holes around the perimeter where it was screwed on. Let me do some searching. If I can't locate anything, I may just block it off. There's a '63 Falcon Futura parts car nearby but I don't know if the owner will deal. Found one picture here-

Nah, Mike. I truly appreciate you guys' generosity but I think I'm just going to seal it up if I can't find a '63 piece with the door.

Topped the tank on the Comet Saturday morning. Driving back home, engine started to buck and die between shifts, car filled with smoke. Pulled the light switch and fuse box to check wiring and found a fried ignition lead into a few splices to tach, coil and ignition control box. Thank goodness only the lead into the splice fried, leaving everything else unscathed. Looks like a bad splice grounded out under the dash and took out the ignition. Idled well in the driveway after moving the wires around a bit.

Have a pigtail coming in from Mac's for '57 T-Bird heater light to plug into the switch, get out the soldering iron and shrink tubing to get a good connection on the splices to prevent this again. While I'm under there, have a fresh air vent and headlight switch bezel coming in to fix all of that. Bezel is stripped out, along with the switch (which is available from NAPA).

Trying to get it road-worthy to drive to Tennessee next year. Tropical storm dumping rain last few days makes it easier to kick back and let it happen nice and slow.

George @ NW Classics in Montana is parting out a '62 tudor sedan if anyone is looking for parts. Some light sanding, a good bath and a coat of Rustoleum will make this good as new. Hinges and latch in great condition. No cracks....can't find better than this original unrestored. Very nice guy to do business.

Finally got a handle on temperature control in the car yesterday morning. This will increase efficiency of the A/C and heater by 100%, keeping out outside air.



I didn't paint the heavy fiberglass tube because I found this which appears to be the original factory stamp. Washed the tube w/ Armor All Wash & Wax soap and ScotchBrite pad. It cleaned up like new. Don't find many used parts in this condition anymore.

Looks like it just left the factory. And I'm impressed....even your scrap papers that you use for a drop cloth are car related.
