Help identifying S-22 Emblem

Post by rudedawg675 »

Hello everyone,

First post on the site here. Been owner of a 63 S-22 Sedan for about 3 years now. My car has been "brought back from the dead", so I've had to find a lot of trim, emblems, etc. over the last few years.

In my searching, I've found quite a bit. But, this emblem is one I found on eBay a few weeks ago. I was the winning bidder and have it in-hand. I know it's not for a 63, but was hoping you all could help identify it. From what little I've found searching, it looks like the style of a 60/61 Ford Galaxie emblem, but with S-22 badging. I've never seen one like it. The seller had it marked for a 62 Comet, but I don't think that's correct.

So, can anyone shed light on this???

COAB-62517A20-A is a roof pillar emblem for a '60 Galaxy Sunliner.

Someone probably modified this emblem for their Comet using a S-22 insert and red and blue.

Thank you for the welcome and quick replies!!!

I had a feeling it was some kind of custom job, but didn't really understand the "why". It's really nicely done, so, maybe I'll try and find a way to incorporate it into my own ride.

It's great to have this forum for questions like this.
