Hey 'koolness52' - Welcome and glad to see another 'finned MEL body Comet on the forum - Pics always appreciated...

61 hood & fender interchange ?

Yes fender and hood should fit but probably expect different trim fastener locations. If you have the old pieces it would be helpful...

I have a modified '62 or 63 hood on my '61. '61 hood had nice small "Comet" badge on front left lip and no 'Mercury' badges anywhere. '62/63 has added Mercury badging after Comet was added to Mercury line in '62.

'couldn't fit the Tri-Power carbs setup under hood and didn't want to cut up original. Donated but rusty and damaged 62/3 hood (thanks Pixel), was modified for purpose.

rescued '61 with OEM hood before build mods ('lawn art' for a few years) :

Thanks for the info.
I have a 61 S-22 model that needs a little love !
Has a poor running 302 and a very leaking c-4

Plans are for 331 stroker and modified c-4, mustang ii front end, 4 bar rear end, coil overs all 4 corners and 8.8 rear end.
So those are my plans so now I have to hit the lottery ! !

Cool ride! 8)

JMO but I would concentrate on suspension and brakes first before looking @ a stroker. These early cars will fly w/ any V8 powerplant.
They are very light!

Very nice, a real S22 with intact interior has great looks and great potential. The 'Jet Age cockpit" inspired interior is as exciting as the swept wings, intake gills on front fenders and Gunsights. Drivability upgrades and a little cosmetic work will make those details stand out. My '61 is not a true S22 but I've tried to emulate the best parts ..

I wanted to do a rotisserie build on it but I don't think I'll have the energy or funds for that due to health issues. I will concentrate on driveline improvements so at least it will be driveable. Then on the cosmetics. Floors/ trunk are all solid no rust just some on the body. Overall in solid shape. Just needs love.
Thanks
