Eckler also shows the round kind with a rubber tail. I’m thinking that is likely the right thing.
Can you post the link? I came up empty on that search.

Thanks

I googled 1963 Comet trunk bumper. The kind you got from Falcon comes up first then some others.

Too small, John. Here's a pic of '63 Falcon for reference-

Image

Thought the bolt may thread into the sheetmetal but diameter is too small, as well. There is no access to install a nut on the back side to mount the bumper :?

Joe
how do you tell how big they are from a pic?
if it was threaded I would think the nut would go on the outside like a jam nut to adjust height then tighten nut to lock, like a hood bumper
?

The holes in the deck lid are same size as the first pic Pat posted on the hood lip.
Falcon Parts shows the same part w/o a nut. Confusion :?

Joe you said the ones I posted in the link were too small but how can you tell that they are too small? maybe could ask Randy Milner, the owner of melvins what size hole they fit & size of bumper unless you see something on the ad that I'm not seeing about size.he's on FB a lot answering questions & posting links to parts.

The proportional size of the teat compared to the hole in the trunk.
I'll call him Tues. when he's open and ask.

Thanks

Didn’t think to look before! A hole on each side looks same as the hood holes.
This one is a mystery to me. Falcon Parts says they screw into those two holes but the one's I got from Melvins has a nut attached. :?
I've either lost my mind or they don't belong there. No access to install them.
Googled up a lot of images of Falcon and Comet trunks. I see a few on Falcons but not on Comets.
Melvins says they fit both :?

The nut is a lock nut. They are bumpers and adjusters.

Wind the nut all the way up, against the rubber stop.

Then screw the bolt part into your trunk lid.

Once you have the bumper the correct height to align your trunk then wind the nut up against the trunk to lock the bumper/adjuster. With out the nut it won't stay in adjustment.

The bolt part is smaller OD than the mounting hole ID.
I'm assuming I need a couple clips for the holes like the fender bolts.
I just readjusted the hood bumpers on the rad support earlier today for better alignment.
