I was thinking maybe the hold down clamp would be mounted to the closer key hole opening for a smaller battery, and the further key hole opening for the larger battery?
You're correct on that one. The bolt & clamp will work in the other hole if the battery has a lip for it and it fits.
Shove the battery toward the rad support and see if it will work. The clamping edge is 1" from the CL of the carriage bolt.

DING, DING, DING!!! Folks we have a winner.
That's what I was thinking from the start but wasn't sure. That clamp kit should take care of things. Just placed an order for one.
Thanks to everyone for the solution suggestions.
Have a great week,

That's awfully tight, Doug. CL of the carriage bolt is the center of the slot. Looks like 3/4" to me.
Hopefully it will fit with a little tilt. If nothing else, may have to grind the lip on the bracket a smidge.

Thanks Joe. I should be able to figure something out. I'm pretty good at fabricating things. This is my other geek hobby that keeps me in the workshop away from the wife. LOL.
I would be awfully tempted to strap this guy in the passenger seat and cruise around town.
What am I talking about? Forgot you have a 4 door. Bring the whole crew to a meet!
Those are really neat creations, but I can see how your wife might rather you stay in your workshop. Do these creations have names?
Jim
Thanks Jim.
She locks me in the basement like Grandpa Munster.
I call the creations different names. My wife calls them “extra income” now that she is retired. Lol.
