Thanks again for all the suggestions in the other thread about the cowl leaks. Eventually I will have to find and fix the leak. In the meantime this will do. It is the same flexible magnetic material used for inexpensive business signs that stick to your truck door. Easy to cut with scissors. It doesn’t like the uneven magnetic force of the slotted vent but good enough for sitting in the driveway. I don’t go anywhere in the rain anyway. The paint is Rustoleum Carnival Red.

Looks good. The only problem is there is still a drain hole in the bottom of the dip where the wiper arms attach. If you want to keep ALL the water out, you need a way of plugging those, too.

I used some dum dum putty on those little holes, can be removed if needed.

Yea mine did same thing. some of my slots were bent down & I didnt notice it until I put the magnetic stuff on .I straightened them up best I could. I put the sign stuff on a flat part of the car (trunk lid I think) for a few hours in the sun & that helped too but I still have ripples.

when I cut mine I pushed it over hanging off the hood opening & marked it from underneath with a sharpie so I could cut it to fit perfectly to the gentle curve of the cowl. then trimmed the back last. I wanted all I could get sticking to the flat part in front of the vent slots to help hold it on better at high speeds. Jim I bet the mad air from your truck is what made yours come off in tow. Mad air is what old crew chief & nascar announcer Larry McReynalds calls it,air coming off car ahead. but a big ole truck makes it even madder.

Jim I bet the mad air from your truck is what made yours come off in tow.

My piece was just barely wide enough to cover the slots. I got as a piece of scrap from a friend. It didn't actually come off, but the air got under it and made it flap enough to wear the paint. I don't know how mad the air was, but I sure was.

Yea if there is room to get it in.
or find a little rubber plug the right size.
or red modeling clay would be good to plug those holes. It could have been clay that I used on them. I had a bad leak from a wide crack in the windshield seal. it was about an inch wide chunk missing. riding in the rain it would go in & shoot up like a little fountain & land on the dash top. So before the trip to PF I filled that void with modeling clay & it stayed until I took the window out.

Got some tapered rubber plugs that fit those holes perfectly.

Perfect! Where did you find those. I need to get some, too.
