Q: Door card removal ?

Post by nzcomet »

Hi from New Zealand.
On our ‘62 Comet custom station wagon
Do the stainless upper and lower mouldings come off when you’re removing the inner door cards ?
Also who would be my best option for buying weather strips and door rubber seals
Thanks

First, welcome aboard! :D You can get answers to most of your questions right here, free for the asking. We'd love to see your car, and what you're doing to it. You should start a build thread so we can follow along. Here's how to post pictures:

I'm afraid I don't know the answer to your first question, but here are some leads on weather stripping:

(click on the pricing link and look on page 7)

I'm sure there are others that will probably share with you, but that should keep you busy for a while. :D

Coincidentally, our across-the-street, two-doors-up neighbor is from NZ.

Upper and lower stainless retainers come off, if needed, after the door cards are removed. To remove the cards, remove the window cranks, door handle and arm rests. Then with a broom handle or other round piece of wood or pipe inserted centerline behind the card horizontally to bend the card outward which will remove it from the upper and lower stainless holders.
