Reproduction Horns

Post by pfleuret »

My car came with a tiny beeper that sounds like it came from a motor scooter. I don’t use the horn a lot but this one has to go. Haven’t seen any working old horns for sale. Any experience with reproduction horns? I don’t want to spend a fair amount of money on new horns that don’t sound or work right.

Are the original brackets and horns still in the car?

No horns or brackets. The original wires and connectors are there.

I see melvins has different ones for 60-64 than one for a 65, & higher priced than 65 horns ; :?
The 65 ones look right,,, from memory at least.

do these look right for 63 comet?

Thanks for that those look real good. Full size steel. I’ve been looking at reproductions for a while they are often smaller than original or plastic or very roughly made. Those look just like the (non working) originals I’ve been looking at on eBay.

The ones John posted are correct for '63. Yes, there are cheaper versions of these sold by some vendors.
You need both brackets and mounting bolts to fit them to strut rod braces if you go stock.
The brackets are separate, as the horns. They mirror each other for fit.

Looks like the Falcon parts place also has those horns, plus the brackets. I can pick them up in person, their warehouse is walk-in and just 12 miles from the house.
