to re-chrome or not....outside door handles 61 4dr

61 4 dr. Because re-chroming is soooooo expensive I had bought new outside door handles, but to screw in place one of the screw holes did not line up properly. Sent them back.
Anyone replace their outside door handles instead of rechroming? Is modifying these handles part of the process to make them fit properly?
Or would I be better off rechroming the original.
Source for proper outside door handles possible...anyone??
