A friend had one w/ 351W 4-V engine. Metallic Copper w/ flat black hood. Wrapped it around a tree, ended up as yard art.
He sold me the disc brake setup for my turquoise '68 back around '88.

Agreed! Hoping to have the Cyclone on the rotisserie this week, so making good progress still despite the "distractions." 😆

Thanks for looking -

Well, progressing along. With an extra car in the shop it gets a little crowded, but i was able to shuffle things around enough to get plenty of room again. Of course,
that means i was able to spend a couple days on the Cyclone floor. Got it spot-welded in solid from the top and stitched around the top side of the flange, so I decided it was rotisserie time. Now to get underneath and finish welding the SFC's solid, a few more stitches on the pan and then a little remaining rust repair.

Goals for the 65 might change as well; with the arrival of the 69 I'm not sure I want to spend months of body work on 2 cars - meaning repair all rust, touch up the paint where need and get it running again - kind of a survivor I guess. I've got a toploader and a couple 351W's here, so there's options. We'll see - there's definitely plenty to do before that.

Rootsy - thanks again! I cheated and referenced your pics to take a short cut to getting it balanced and surprise-surprise; nailed it.

More later - time to get busy!

Your garage is looking better and better. Nice find with the mustang. Is that guide coat on the mustang? Did previous owner start the bodywork?

Thanks Lou - it's a work in progress! I tend to reorganize often (alot) to make sure it doesn't get too cluttered.

And yes, guide coat on the 69. I haven't hit it with a long block yet, but a quick flashlight test shows it to not be too far off. Previous owner had it in his paint booth and apparently had too many irons in the fire, so I was lucky as in right place - right time.

Thanks for looking-

Aaaaannnndddd here we are! Runs / drives / stops / steers, 351W with a swapped in toploader. If not evident it's a 69 Mach 1. No rust I can find anywhere- sooooooo now I'll be busy. I might have a problem, but I feel normal to me . . . . . 😆 🤣 😂

Yeah, I can see that w/ the TTDs 👍 Call me nuts but I kinda like the Desert Storm look the car has now.
Instead of a number sticker, paint a white star and ya got it.

Both good ideas, fellas!

Not 100% sure on the final goal since this was a "surprise," but right now I'm leaning towards something a little different - Since this wasn't a Cobra Jet, Shelby or BOSS, I think this is the perfect candidate to put together a tribute? clone? of the baddest? sweetest? Ford of all time. Picture it jet black, 17" mag 500's and a Kaase Boss 9 hiding under the hood . . . . . Ooooo baby!

But we'll just have to see - the little 65 Cyclone has priority right now! Picked up a hardtop roof with solid drip rails from a friend with a parts car, so that was fortunate and will resolve the issues on the 65. Plenty of welding and fitting in my future for the next little while.

The question is; which is the dedicated race car?

The Cyclone is lighter, hint, hint

There's not really any drag strips close enough to count, so all my projects are street cars. That doesn't mean they can't be hateful though!

Different topic - random thought on if a 351W will fit between the Comet towers with W exhaust manifolds? Anyone tried it?

A few good days tinkering along. One-piece floor is in, so now on to the inner cowl and lower quarters. I make it a habit of stitching old spot-welded joints when I can also, so just pushing forward.
