Yes I think it's a good idea to be able to move air to the windshield. If I were to use a ventless cowl I'd put a couple screened holes in the side of the cowl to draw air from inside the fender for those cool morning car show runs.
Fred that would not do anything for Dan & I now because we both sealed off the bottom of the cowl to cabin fresh air intake holes. Mine will draw air from inside the cab. I cant think of a reason why it would need air from outside the car. Is there some reason I'm not aware of?
Dan does the hotrod heater draw air from outside the car somehow? Looking forward to pics of it when you get that far along .
No, it pulls from inside the car. On my 65 I used flex duct up to the dash grille and it did fine. Was it as good as my 2018 pickup? Not a chance, but doesn't fog up. Oh - it'll be a while before I get that far!

Moving along. Replaced all the rusty sheet metal under the cowl, reinstalled the cowl (76 spot welds) and the apron straps. Ordered an export brace from Melvins, so should wrap up the front end soon. More later - thanks for looking.

Looking great Danno!!!
are you going to add a piece of angle to the area on the cowl lip where the export brace bolts on like the shelby's had? They were tacked on top of the lip but I put one under the lip so it wouldn't show so much . when you get the export on it hides it.

Thanks, Jim. It's far from perfect but I'm happy!

Thanks, Johnno. Not sure yet on attaching the brace; it should arrive this week so I'll figure it out then.

Progress continues. Stripped the other fender, hung the drivers door, aligned and set the fender in place. Goal is to continue until all stripped and aligned while fixing any remaining issues. Just tinkering along but this is the fun part! More later -

Well, it's moving along but not with me. I went back and forth trying to decide what to do with my limited space and the self- inflicted 65 vs 69 conundrum. In the end, a fellow 60's Ford gent on the other side of Knoxville from me decided to take it on so I could focus on the 69. It was tough to decide, but it's in good hands and still making progress. I did point him towards this forum too, so he may drop in.

Yep the 69 would be pretty hard to walk past very often without touching it knowing the value of the two of them finished.
The Mustang would be an easier build and probably worth 3 times what the Cyclone could bring,,,.
Good luck with your decision.
I'd rather do it myself if it's done right or not,,,isn't that what hotrodding is all about

It’s pretty easy to get distracted by other projects
I still have my first car … 50 years and it’s only been mocked up & running briefly for a few days once
Changed the build plans a dozen times … Always something else getting in the way.
Now it’s that damn Comet project again for the second time lol

Iv never been one to worry about the end value of this or that … it’s not why I like the car hobby thing.
In fact the “value” people have about run this thing into the ground.

I hear you, fellas. It wasn't a "value" decision but more of a limited space issue. Hard to work on 2 projects in any shop, plus my old family truck and boat can't move over 😆. I ultimately decided to take a shot at building a clone from the 69, especially since a pal has the 65.

Good to hear it went to someone who’ll do it right. I hear you guys on the value thing, was never one for worrying about that. The 69 will be a great project. I had too many projects several years back, all 66 Mustangs, 2 coupes and a vert, had to clear out the yard, sold them to a good friend down the road, I know they’re in the right place.
Big D, are you on the Vintage Mustang Forum (VMF)?
