1964 Sheet Metal

Post by mick g »

Curious if anybody is reproducing quarter panels for the 64 Comet? Can I use 4 door panels as patch or are the different than 2 Door hardtop? Just curious as I am considering picking up a project. So far, it looks like the only available 64 Comet panels are full floors, toeboard lower patch panels and rockers are any other panels available or interchangeable with Falcon? Wheelwells, trunk floor and drop offs etc...

No reproduction sheet metal for '64 Comets, only what you mentioned already as far floor pans etc.

Are the quarter wheel lip openings the same 4 door to 2 door hardtop? Thinking I can graft in a solid body 4 door parts car quarter wheel lip opening arches into the hardtop

Yes. All the wheel lips are the same, 2 and 4 door sedans and 2 door hardtops. the 4 doors will not have but a narrow strip where the door goes but that is usually not an issue and just has to be pieced in separate if needed.

What price is that? I don't have the project yet, but am assessing.

Every time I see someone selling a '64 quarter I wish my budget was larger on my budget build  :P

Truthfully I would rather see nice parts go into Comets that are worthy of them, or going to a higher level of restoration than mine. But I still dream

Mike so I can use any 64 comet wheel arch on my 64 comet caliente convertible? My passenger rear is split and rusted on the fold of the inner and would like to replace it.
