I have a small amount of rust in driver's side pan and thinking about a 5-speed swap in the future.
Well guys we are coming to the time for me to ask advice. All the exterior Cyclone specific bright work on my car is corroded and pitted beyond use. I am thinking of removing it all from the car and leaving the new letters already purchased on the trunk and buying the six fender trimmers new even though they are expensive and removing and filling the rest. Opinions please----------------- and it gets worse----------------
The factory dash gauge cluster and all the cyclone specific brightwork the fastens to the dash are corroded and pitted and I believe unobtanium. I am planning on replacement gauges for everything and all new wiring as the wiring was unusable. Sooooo------------I'm thinking Dakota digital dash and sanding-filling-sanding and painting the cyclone dash brightwork-------------again soliciting suggestions-----------------

Years ago, I painted all interior brightwork on dash panel and cluster with Testors enamel
Didn't turn out half bad but you had to see the car.
Not a preferred method by any means, I would think.

Jim: the best part of the car is the stainless trim. It's all perfect and it's all there!
It's the things that make it a Cyclone that are hard to find and not ropoped.
I have some ideas, I have to deal with the back trim between the taillights.
Its all there but needs refinishing. I'm just spitballing at this point. Lots of runway left.

I bought a set of the trim that had the anodizing taken off & polished & repainted,it looked great & still looks pretty good but could stand a polishing 4-5 years later. but now with the anodizing gone it will polish up to look great again.
I wouldnt delete it. Thats what makes it a cyclone. Wait it out and youll probably find some better parts. Ebay, and facebook groups are great tools to look for parts

Well all the Cyclone specific trim is with the car, just that some of it is so corroded and pitted. It's going to stretch my imagination to get around
this issue but there is a lot of runway left. Thanks for the encouragement.

There was a great place in Wisconsin, Chrome Tech, but they shut down.
May be able to email the owner, see if he knows someone that does good work. He did before he closed shop.
New post: The metal 4 speed hump was in my car when I bought it albeit in very bad condition. I couldn't abide a repop fiberglass one when I had this one so I did some metal work in it and saved the backer under the floorpan and metal worked it as well. Here is the sequence-------------------
The above photo shows the backer fitted to the hump and fastened with 1/4 X 3/4 self tappers to mold it into shape.
Below are the repaired items painted with black Rustoleum hanging on my drying wire. The hump was covered with vinyl from the factory so I will work them a little more before final install. They are now fastened together in storage waiting their turn for use.
