Just got notice from Blueprint Engines that my 347 stroker ships today.
Going to try to paint epoxy primer this weekend if it's not too hot.

Hey Joe, I have CalTracks on the shelf for the car. building helical trac/loc into the differential with new HD axles as well.

Thanks Fred. I am still working some so I haven't been able to work on the car as much as I want to. The chromer who is doing my bumpers is going to restore all the Cyclone specific badging and dash and tail panel. It will tap my bank account but really can't build the car right without doing it. The comet owners on this site set a really high bar and I want my car to look like the ones you guys are posting up. I knew my 65 404 build was rare but you really don't know rare until you try to do a 65 Cyclone. I should have photos to post in a couple days as I am shooting primer in the morning.

Today I painted the bottom of the car with grey single stage Omni. I'm done with the bottom for now until undercoat. I am going to get another quart of the grey Omni and paint the inside floor and firewall as I am done metalworking that too. The grey allows me to see what I am doing-------------
I painted the engine bay grey epoxy primer as I want to body work it some so I will mud it a little and use high build sandable primer before color.
Next up I will bond the headlight fittings to the fenders like tomb did and hang the doors so I can start bodyworking the exterior.

This is something that holds IMO, we are all working on 40+year old cars that were built on an assembly line now they are getting the attention that was not practical when they were mass produced, I am sure mine will be better than it ever was,even if I am a hack
except it would have been nice to have non rusty quarters
but it will be ok all things considered.still have a unique,hopefully well fit together Comet Sedan.

My car was born with a ford 8" 3:1 ratio open differential. That would not stand for what I am building so I ordered a few things from Quick Performance. I went with a new R & P at 3.23:1 ratio and an 8" helical TrackLock. I decided to install new HD axles and bearings as well and we finished assembling it all yesterday.
I just have to build out the new brakes and touch up the paint and it can go in the shelf for future install with the CalTrax on the shelf.
Meanwhile I am nearly done with the epoxy primer and single stage on the inside of the car and engine bay and ready to start taking the outside down to bare metal for it's first coats of epoxy primer.

that was a good idea I worked all in black but then again my car is so low it is difficult to see any work I did there good or bad, it looks good of course, not on par with the work you are doing of course, most guys here are more skilled than I am, I guess or they don’t show their hackery, I guess I am not embarrassed by my work enough
so I show it and let everyone sit around and make fun of it behind my back
I am happy to have a solid rust free floor that has a good protective finish to keep it that way, I will probably not bring any trophies home but that is not my goal anyway, but drive the devil out of this little Sedan and enjoy myself in the process

I intend to bond my front extensions on as well, just need to take my front fenders back off and concentrate on working each separate up on the table (they are just sitting on there right now anyway, with the top bolts holding them so they don’t fall off
I am just trying to get myself motivated to mix up the epoxy primer and shoot it on ( after cleaning the gun up
I need to quit procrastinating and just get it done ,I know I would feel better afterwards.

Oh make no mistake, I hack with the best of them. This car was on the edge of feasibility to build due to the rust damage. I had to do a lot of mental gymnastics to bring myself to spend the money that is is going to take to get the car I want. If the car wasn't so rare there is no way I would have built this car. Also I have a lot of age on a lot of you, so I am using all the tuition I paid on past builds to not repeat past mistakes.
One of the biggest things I have found to be beneficial is building a spreadsheet on everything I buy for the car. Example yesterday we went to build out the rear brakes and I had everything except the wheel cylinders. I came home and looked on my spreadsheet and sure enough I had already bought them. This morning I went to my parts mountain and they were in the first tote I looked in:-) A win!!!!!!!
