The engine sounds good, but just looking at that great looking 64 should provide motivation.
1965 Mercury Cyclone former drag car, 1971 Boss 351 engine, 4 speed, ladder bars, etc. Now returned to a street car.

I did the same thing, to this day running duraspark in my 67 GT500 that I installed in the late 80's. Ford put duraspark distributors in FE's for a couple years in mid 70's F series trucks with 360's. Still using the same junkyard module.
I say it was a bad module, may have been the pickup because I remember pulling a stator on one around that time (late '80s). Hard to remember, but I think it was on my Grand Marquis 351W. I can't remember any problems w/ the ones I pulled from the yards.
