Horn contact ring

Post by Racersonly »

My horn doesn’t work on my 65 Caliente. I pulled the steering wheel and found the two brushes very worn and the contact ring behind the splined steering wheel mount damaged where the brushes ride. The contact ring is part of the splined steering wheel mount. Can this assembly be replaced? If so, where might I located one?

Rocket,
Thanks for your help……..I’m now thinking that my steering wheel/horn might be aftermarket. I’d post some photos, but my iPad pix are too big to attach. I’m not computer savy enough to make them so. Same with an avatar photo of my car. Let me work on that.

I could not get a pic to work on that avatar for years it has to be tiny. but it's easy to get a signature pic under ''edit signature''. If you use postimage you can set it to automatically resize your pics as you upload them.

it does look like an after market ,grant maybe.

I added this kit to my 65 last year. Gets the current away from the steering wheel and directly to the horns. Horns are louder as well.

Easy instructions!

I have an ancient Superior wheel in my car the mount looks basically the same.

Joe? The 64 has a horn relay, did they drop it in 65?
I'd rather do it myself if it's done right or not,,,isn't that what hotrodding is all about

It is indeed a Grant. Poboyjo65 was right on the money. Ordered a new one. Thank you, gentlemen.
