caliente Convertible Center Console

Post by iehotrod »

I recently purchased a comet caliente convertible in pieces and I am looking for the correct center console. I purchase one but it does fit over hump correctly at rear the radius cut out is larger and it does sit well over the tranny drive shaft well top appears to be correct other wise anyone have any pics of one actually looks like ?

here's one for a truck . when I saw it I thought I just bet that's a vert falcon console & they used it in the truck because it was flat in the front. that's why I saved it. but that's just a guess. does it look anything like yours?

I had a 65 comet convertible back in 2011 which I parted out (still kicking my a## for not keeping it). Here’s Pic of the interior I sold to a fellow up in Tennessee. The only shot I’ve been able to find of the console. This was from a column shift 289 Caliente.

That's alright,we 64 & 5ers do the same in your category quite a bit!
besides,a nice console like that needs to be shown off more often!

Actually, making that console fit better over the shifter is on my list of things to do...

@Caveman49 that appears more accurate based on my research so far. What should I expect to pay for one?

I have no idea what one would cost, IF you can find one. You might consider making what you have work until the possibility of finding an original.

I think this is new to the market.

Yea he's taking preorders on it now, still a month or 2 out. & that ones for a hardtop, notice how deep the groove for the driveshaft tunnel in the back of it is vs the diagram above? consoles for convertibles were different .

I was under the impression the only modifications were to trim the sides that allows the console to sit lower
