Sedan Rear Window Trim

Post by sanderjs »

Hello all,

I have read several window installation threads and they all seem to say there are no clips for the rear window trim? On my car the bottom two pieces had fallen off at some point and there appears to be a rusted metal clip? Are there clips for the sedan or does the trim just clip onto the rubber? What is this rusty bit for?

I have never installed a rear window in a sedan, just hardtops. That appears to be the remains of a clip of some sort.

It looks like they might be reveal molding clips such as these...

Doesn't look like there's any groove in the rubber for the molding like the HTs. Are there any pins welded to the body below the rubber?

Looking in my 65 shop manual it looks & sounds like for body styles 54 & 62 there may be retaining nuts holding the trim on???,,,,& accessed from inside the trunk maybe? kinda vague the way it is worded but there are circles with the closeup pics .

I think you are correct, John. I remember having to clean out the trunk of the car to get to it. Mike had to scrounge for a wrench to pull it.
The hurricane dropped trees all around the car in the woods, not to mention it was rattlesnake country in the summertime. I was just ready to get out of there.

Or these,they say they fit too;

I ordered some on there for my windshield (hardtop) so now all these keep popping up in my searches. I guess if you need them probably be a good idea to take yours out to know what exactly it looks like.

Thank you Joe,

I think you meant these from their site? I will need a set of those as well... in case mine are bad.

Thank you for all the detailed pictures and manual pages these are very helpful. I don't seem to get email notifications when I get a response to a post is there a way to update this? I looked around but couldn't find anything.

Yes, I got cross-threaded reading your post & looking @ your pic. Initially thought you may be referring to rear quarter glass.
John & cbcafe are on the right trail. I remember walking up the steep hill to Mike's truck to grab a screwdriver to pull the trim.
I put that project behind me almost two years ago.
