What does 35k buy at a dealership?
Oh yea, a silver hatchback.
That is a beautiful clean run a round. Easy to service, very easy on the eye, fun car!
I don't understand why we as owners knock the price of any given Comet when they reach good numbers .
If yours is better it ups your numbers, if yours isn't it ups your numbers,,,,,
I'd rather do it myself if it's done right or not,,,isn't that what hotrodding is all about

It buys a reliable car that you can park in a crowded parking lot and not worry about a ding, something you can drive all year in rain, snow or whatever and not worry about destroying a classic. Sometimes it is nice to drive something reliable that you don't really care about, at least for me. Not to mention much better gas mileage. I still drive a lot, averaging 40,000 miles a year, hard to do that in a classic and keep it in good shape.

Thats my point really, if basic transportation is worth that why wouldn't a tastefully done quite rare classic that does most of what you stated be worth at least that?

I get what you're saying, I just don't celebrate the prices getting higher and higher. I guess because I am never selling mine. I employee a bunch of young guys, ages 18-30 mostly, that actually like old cars but everytime they save up some money to get one the prices get higher. Most of them ended up with 90's pickups doing cummins or LS swaps... I wish kids had access to some of these old cars, so easy to work on and a life time of fun. The Shelby club I joined in the 80's was full of regular guys with cool cars back then. Today the club is a few old long time owners and newer members are mostly a bunch of extremely rich guys who pay guys to work on their cars. Just not the same vibe.

There are still deals out there if they are patient and beat the bushes.
