I don't have it all figured yet lol.

I think its best to go BIG BEARING.

I know I want to keep the existing steering box in place which is 1" sector.

All references tell me that no matter what I'm going to need the center link for 65/66 comet/falcon, so I'm buying new.

I'm getting roller perches, roller idler new to help the manual steering be more smooth/easier...I hope.

I think I have to correct pitman figured out.

So I believe it will all come down to the correct tie rod ends :) :)

Any input greatly appreciated :)

I have an 8" diff from a 69 stang.

I have a 289 from a 68 stang...complete and running on a stand. I'll put thst in once I get the steering/suspension changed.

As happens with most builds....it mushrooms lol

Very interesting!
Are the ball joint tapers the same?
The length of the spindle steering arm will really effect turning effort.
Installed balljoint center to center length close?
I would think 65 inner tierods with the Mustang outters hoping thread diameter and direction are correct.
Looking forward to updates!
Fred
I'd rather do it myself if it's done right or not,,,isn't that what hotrodding is all about

Well here's a good clue for you that is on the positive side the sleeves from cj pony say fit 64-73 ,so I'd say thats a good sign you could use outer 68 tierod ends to fit the spindle arms & 65 inner tie rod ends to fit the center link & sleeves fit both.

Just wondering why are you changing spindles?
Only use the brakes to stop and get gas.

I swapped 71 and 76 Maverick Spindles on early cars - 74 and 61 Comet. Mavericks changed bearing and hub diameter size in 74/75, not sure about Mustang.

... '61 Comet uses '71 Maverick (4 lug) spindles with Scarebird Disc conversion. "61 already had - " '65 V8 steering" but needed simple adapters for tie rod ends. '61 has some 'bump steer' with later spindles but 60/61 susp. geometry is different ...

early spindle hub and '71 MAv hub . AFAIK - later hub/bearings after 73 are larger again .

'swapped '76 Maverick spindles on '74 (drum/Drum) Maverick with larger hubs and wheel center. No adapters needed for tie rods.

I finally picked up the D1ZA spindles. Has the single piston calipers and brackets, and a rough set of discs.

I'll be comparing the measurements to some other spindles I have.
I have two sets of C60A and a set of C3's. And of course the 6cyl originals still on the car.

I have the correct 65 center link on its way and a roller idler arm and pitman arm for 1" sector.

If you dont mind put a copy of the spindle comparison pics in the steering upgrade thread in thr drivetrain section. I've been meaning to put the pics that disappeared back in there of other comparisons & pics of parts.

Will do. I was hoping such info would already be out there but I couldn't really find enough details. A bit scattered.

Cheers

Decided to put the calipers on to see how they fit in these years.

Found it strange that there were no pins for the caliper to float on in connection with the brackets.

Instead there is a little bracket with an allen head bolt that holds the caliper to the bracket.

Also no dust shields came with the set. I might buy some or just install without for now.

It's supposed to slide on that spring bar as the pads wear down but it never will with it that rusty ,need to clean off that rust & grease it up some on those parts.

Oh yes for sure. Going to clean it all, see if I can get everything moving. If not there are a lot of reproductions online.

I'll use what I can.

Another thing I found is the rotors have the hubs integral....oh well :)
