Original Carb on 1965 Comet Caliente?

Post by tonytwotone »

Hi all!

New here and hoping to get some insight from the awesome community!

Recently, I was gifted a 200ci 1965 Comet Caliente by my wife. As I've been getting familiar with the engine bay, I noticed that the currently installed carb is a manual choke but no cable linkage attached or knob on the dash. Obviously, it seems as though someone has replaced the carb but I'm hoping that someone can confirm for me that this vehicle was outfitted with some type of automatic choke from the factory.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Yes, the 200 I-6 was equipped w/ Autolite 1100 with automatic choke.

Steel heat riser tube inserted into top of exhaust manifold, couples to choke housing activating the bi-metal spring.
Look at top of exhaust manifold under the carburetor for the small hole.
