64 Comet 289 column shift auto ..exhaust maniflds?

Manual steering and brakes. Someone in Comet world once told me I will need HI PO exhaust manifolds to fit. Really??? Engine trans ready to go back in and the engine me with NONE. Will be just a driver and I hate headers. I also have been told v8 Maverick exhaust maniflds will work?? Thanks!

Mustang Hipo manifolds wont work. Too thick they’ll hit the shock towers.
The standard Maverick V8 manifolds are thin enough to work.
The stock Comet/Falcon 1964 289 manifolds should work just fine. The driver side exits downward and a pipe crosses over and joins the right side.

So can I search for any stock (non hp)289 manifold? or will 302 exh man work?? How about any of the try y headers> Did I mention I hate headers!! ha

For stock Ford exhaust manifolds it’ll have to be trial and error. The width of the Comet/Falcon engine box is very narrow. Im using a Maverick driver side manifold and a 351W manifold on the passenger side and it doesn’t leave much room side to side.
Headers are tight as well. I have Dougs headers on my 64 Falcon and the fit is good but removing and installing them is a nightmare.

Or looks like repop 289 HP eh man about same $ little more. Thanks for the options.
