64 Taillight lenses

Post by lavron »

Anyone have a clue on how to remove/replace the stainless trim rings on a '64 taillight lens? I bought some replacements but one is dinged but I have my original taillights that the rings are good but my lights are cracked (below the surface)

Just thought I would see if anyone has replaced any.

See Ya,
Mike

Yes they would be nice to have but I am going to try and fix the ones I have, so you won't get any competition from me.

Great, what did they set you back?

I think it is great you got a set of NOS taillights your car is worth it and I understand the repops aren't as good as the original.

About 130ish. Almost did not happen though, computer froze up right when I was ready to bid, managed to get back to the bid page and slammed in a bid, with only 17 seconds left!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Checked out a 69 Torino GT 428CJ ram air car today...........have to see from my cousin who owns it (lives out of state now) what he wants for it, but will probably get it. Needs work, but only 44K original miles. Interior just about mint. Car is covered in dust from sitting in a barn for like 20 years. Some rust, but overall a pretty solid car. They started it off an on over the years, so their pretty confident we can get her going again.

That is a good price for the lights, last I checked I think the repop were running $125 each, hopefully they will be excellent. I need to look around and find a broken taillight I guess and see if I can remove the stainless trim rings from it, I hate to tear my originals up because from a distance they look fine and might be needed someday

The Torino sounds cool, not one you would want to fix and drive everyday though with such low miles. I have really come to like the Torinos from that era, when I was a kid I didn't think much of them and they were common now you just don't see many of them, I would probably buy one, if my wife wouldn't kill me and I had a place for it :P
