Hey, Lou! Are you going to weld clips to the housing to snug up the rear line?
Just wondering if it's necessary, also considering factory practice.

Thanks for all of the cool pics!
Really like the proportioning valve location. Gave me an idea

Not going to weld clips to housing. Might glue a couple, or going to use straps like Moser sells. I am going to do something to snug them up!

Have some snugging up to do myself, Lou.

Went back and reviewed your early postings on the build. Your car has come a long way since you picked it up.
A lot of great ideas and great pics still hanging in there. A lot of details!

Thanks man

Loving your work Lou!
Especially the brake lines.
I'm collecting parts to swap to dual master at present, but scared of bening/flaring etc...

Buy extra line, it's cheap and practice makes perfect.
I'd rather do it myself if it's done right or not,,,isn't that what hotrodding is all about

It might be worth your time to use NiCopp brake tubing. It bends and flares very easily. I use it exclusively for brake and fuel lines. It is DOT approved. It is available in rolls which is easily straightened for long runs. I purchase mine from Summit. Invest in a quality flaring tool, it will make the job much easier, I also lube the tubing with white grease when making a flare, then clean the tubing inside and out with Brake Klean before installing.

Great suggestions, thanks guys.
Will be saving making new lines etc until I pull the car apart for proper resto.
Will be much easier job when it's on a rotisserie and I'm crawling around on a concrete floor :D

Thanks Warren,

Brake lines aren't that hard to do. Make sure you cut the line square and prep the end before you flare. This tool here preps the end of line.

I use to prep the line ends with files, round and flat. This tool makes it much easier and prepping the line makes a much better flare!

A really nice flare tool is

A little pricey but works every time . If you're doing Nicopp the cheaper flare tool will work.

No matter what you use prep the end of the line correctly for a nice flare.

Worked on my exhaust this week. When back and forth on what mufflers and finally decided on the Black Widow mufflers. I also bought these tailpipes from summit to have something to start with.

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/flo- ... /year/1966

Had to cut a little out of the pipes and re-weld them.

Image

Here is a picture of the tailpipes done. The front pipes are just straight pipes with a 12 degree bend 6" from end for left side. And 9 degree bend for the right side to line up with the headers. And the mufflers.

Image

The mufflers are pretty much straight thru.

Image

Here is what it will basically look like assembled.

Image

I still need turn down tips. The exhaust tucks up pretty good and the tips will exit behind bumper with just a little of the turn down showing .

Made my own hangers by bending the universal type hanger and welding to clamp. Didn't want to weld to pipe in case I wanted to change anything or made any mistake. This way I only need new clamp instead of pipe. Also made some plates with studs that go in from other side to bolt hangers to and some rubber gaskets to seal the holes.

Image

Here is how hangers look on car

Image

Test fitted everything a few times and pretty happy how it all fits. Need to paint hangers and brackets, get the turndowns and then install. Looking forward to hearing how it sounds.
